Defects in pipeline insulation layer

To enable the smooth flow of "three-high" crude oil with high wax content, high pour point and high viscosity in the oil pipeline, the oil products are usually heated at the oil transportation station to keep the temperature of the oil products above the pour point or at an even higher temperature. Considering energy conservation, consumption reduction, cost reduction and efficiency improvement, insulation measures are usually added to the outer shell of the oil pipeline. When the outer surface temperature of the normal insulation layer is close to the ambient temperature, it indicates good insulation, which can achieve excellent energy-saving and heat preservation effects.

Project Application

The temperature at the defective position of the insulation layer is > 60°C, which is more than 50°C higher than the normal surface temperature. This is highly unfavorable for energy conservation. Moreover, the decrease in the outer surface temperature of the pipe wall can easily lead to wax deposition.

The construction of the insulation layer is a concealed project. Normally, the human eye cannot directly check the insulation effect of the insulation layer. Through infrared thermal imaging technology, the defective positions of the insulation layer can be clearly and intuitively identified, which is of great value for evaluating the energy - saving effect and construction quality of the insulation layer.
